About us
Magamba Eco-Cultural Tourism was born from a simple but powerful idea: to share the real life, culture, and nature of Magamba village in the Usambara Mountains while creating sustainable opportunities for the local community.
Founded in 2017 and officially registered in 2020, this community-based initiative offers authentic Usambara tours, immersive cultural tourism experiences, and unique birding in Usambara, connecting visitors with one of Tanzania’s most beautiful and biodiverse regions.
About the Founder – Alfonce
At the heart of Magamba Eco-Cultural Tourism is its founder, Alfonce, a passionate local guide born and raised in Magamba village.
Growing up in a humble family, Alfonce experienced both the beauty of village life and the daily challenges faced by the community—especially the lack of employment opportunities for youth and women.
Inspired by his deep connection to the Usambara Mountains, he created this initiative to offer meaningful Usambara tours, promote birding and nature experiences, and preserve the rich traditions of local culture.
From a Small Idea to Community Impact
What started as small guided walks has grown into a trusted community-based tourism project in the Usambara Mountains.
