Usambara Locafood cooking class

Coffee experience

Coffee has been an important crop for many families in Usambara mountains for generations but due to the loose from World market people have started to cut down the coffee tree and engage in other crops, but mow the coffee is doing good and some few started to plant coffee again .

 

During this experience, visitors walk through small coffee farms where local farmers grow coffee plants under the shade of natural trees, a traditional method that helps protect the soil and environment.

 

Guests will learn about the different stages of coffee production, beginning with how coffee cherries are grown and harvested by hand. Depending on the season, visitors may have the opportunity to pick ripe coffee cherries directly from the plants and see how they are processed.
